Personal
Power is the energy that sustains our bodies. It originates from the Goddess
and the God. We first absorb it from our mothers, in the womb, and later from
food, water, the Moon and Sun, and other natural objects.
Personal power is released through movement, exercise, sex, conception and childbirth.
Witches raise the vibrations of their personal power through the use of tools
such as meditation, visualisation and ritual Meditation is a form of committing
your focus and attention totally on something.
There are many forms of meditation, such as open eye meditations, guided meditations,
walking meditations and activity meditations. Witches use meditation as a tool
to access their personal powers and energies and to transform them into creative
thought and activity. It is a function of subconscious mind
Visualisation is a process of forming mental images. Magickal visualisation
consists of forming images of needed goals during ritual. Visualisation is also
used to direct energies and powers during magick. It is a function of conscious
mind.
A Witch cannot work successful magick if her mind is not totally calm and centred
on his/her work.
Grounding one's power to oneself, and centring one's focus on one's work are
all a part of the concentration that a Witch must achieve to attain single-mindedness
for his/her goal.
In order to work with the power, a Wicca casts a circle, to confine the power
to the immediate environment, and to stop the power from dissipating. Once the
circle is cast, the power is raised by means of chanting, singing, dancing and
drumming. Once the power is raised to a point it is channelled to be used immediately,
or stored in some magickal tool, such as a wand or an athame,
which is a Witch's knife. The excess energy is then earthed, or sent back into
the Earth.
Witches also focus on building their extra-sensory perceptions, their instincts,
so to speak. Clairvoyance: Being able to "see"
into the future or past.
Clairaudience: Hearing future or past events, or
hearing things not present to the senses Precognition,
lit. foreknowledge: having knowledge of a future event
Telepathy: Having the ability to communicate with
another through the mind only. Telempathy: Feeling
another's emotion
Psychometry: Divining properties of things by contact.
Telekinesis: Having the ability to cause motion
in an object through sheer force of will and without any form of physical contact.
Teleportation: The ability to be able to transport
one's body or spirit a great distance in a short time
